Bob Dylan on Lawrence Welk?

As a very young child in 1964/1965/1966 my family took a train from St. Louis to New York. On the train was an interesting, thick haired singer and his friend with a guitar. They played music on the train and he had an unusual singing style similar to Bob Dylan's. He was scheduled to be on the Lawrence Welk Show.

Was Bob Dylan ever on the Lawrence Welk Show? The lyrics "can this really be the end" still stick in my mind!
